the Faroe Islands

Leaving Norway behind, I moved to another ship for the trans-Atlantic leg of the trip. This was a more traditional Viking cruise liner, one small enough to enter and dock in small ports.

After fierce weather made a visit to the Shetland Islands unsafe, we went directly to the Faroe Islands. The Faroes have their own special beauty and mystique, with craggy peaks, fjords and hundreds of streaming waterfalls.
